Return To Nazareth
Jesus returns to Nazareth, devoting His time to preaching, healing and teaching his disciples, and where he is re-untied with Mary. These are the days before the specter of the crucifix casts its shadow across the world. |
Escape To Egypt
An angel of the Lord appears to Joseph in a dream, saying "Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him."

Conflict
Jesus and his disciples journey to Judea and attend a festival, where Jesus enters the temple and begins to teach. He is beginning to establish Himself with the people as the Messiah; some challenge Him on this, but many believe, and he draws a larger crowd every day. |
Boyhood And Baptism
Joseph and Mary return to Nazareth and Egypt after the death of the evil King Herod. We see bits and pieces of Jesus' childhood, working with his father and studying Hebrew law. Jesus is baptized and makes his Passover trip to the temple in Jerusalem at the age of twelve.

Fate of John the Baptist
The ninth episode centers on the execution of the messenger sent by God to prepare the way for the Messiah. Herod the tetrarch seizes John and imprisons him for Herodias' sake, but initially spares his life out of fear of the multitude, who count him as a prophet.

Men Of The Wilderness
Jesus heads into the wilderness after being baptized by John the Baptist. There he fasts and meditates for forty days and forty nights, during which time he is tempted by Satan. While Jesus is in the Wilderness, John the Baptist is arrested.

Retreat And Decision
Retreat and Decision sets the stage for Christ's trials and ultimate sacrifice on earth. He explains to his disciples that He must return to Jerusalem where he will be killed, and rise from the grave. Jesus, Peter, James and John accompany Him to the mountaintop, where they witness His transfiguration, and He visits the home of Lazarus.

Challenge Of Faith
Jesus begins his ministry and his joined by his first four disciples: Andrew, Simon Peter, James and John, the sons of Zebedee. Word of Jesus' teaching and miraculous healing powers has begun to spread throughout Galilee, even finding its way to the ear of the imprisoned John the Baptist.

Triumph And Defeat
By the time of Triumph and Defeat, Jesus' time is drawing nigh. He returns to the temple to pray, but the sight of the marketplace activities going on inside the walls of the Holy Temple fill Him with righteous indignation. He overturns the stalls and tables of the money-chargers, drives them out of the temple, and rebukes the chief priests themselves for turning God's House into a pit of vipers. Judas Iscariot offers to betray Jesus to the Romans for a price, and they plot the death of the Nazarene.

Discipleship
Word of Jesus' teachings and healing powers have already begun to spread quickly across the land, and now Jesus cannot travel anywhere without huge crowds of people following him; many come to be healed, and many come from far-off towns and villages just to hear Him preach.
